Ukiyo-e painter, printmaker. Lived in Edo; son of Kikugawa Eiji, a maker of fans and Kano-style painter. Taugt first by his father, then by Suzuki nanrei and Iwakubo Hokkei; also influenced by Utamaro and hokusai. His paintings, quite in Kano manner, commonly signed Eizan Toshinobu. From the early 1800s until he retired about 1830, became the leading designer of bijinga (based of Utamaro`s light style) and actor prints sa well as erotica.Fouder of the so-called Kikugawa style.
