Japanese-stale painter, printmaker. Also a decorator of pottery and lacquer. Born and lived in Tokyo. Founding member of the Bunten and frequent prize winner at its exhibitions. Served as an illustrator during the Sino- Japanese War. Followed first the style of Kikuchi Yosai, then studied the ukiyo-e manner by himself. Evolved his own amusing way of treating genre subjects, wich he applied to paintings as well as to illustrations for magazines and newspapers.
